WORKSHOP 5: Closing in the Gap - Action Planning

Questions for this workshop (c/o Facilitator, Michael Canares):

 

1. What specific action steps do we want to do in our organizations to bring these realizations into our work and mission?

2. What specific action steps do we want to pursue as a network?  

Communication

  • Have a newsletter (Men @ Work) within the network.

Structure

  • Formalize this assembly as the MIND (Men in Development) Forum.

  • Resource persons for men.

  • iFight for men & boys.

  • Create a network to take a lead for advocacy to gain support of both GO & NGO.

Research

  • Conduct a study on men at work on various context – national scope.

Programs

  • Implement a program for non-entrepreneurial men towards employment.

  • Annual family Olympics.

  • Common project for men (localized) – Promise Keepers, etc.

  • Develop program for men.

  • Set up training institute for the network (vocational & technical)

Advocacy

  • Market the concept of Men at Work to other orgs.

  • Network leverage (for contacts, etc.).

  • Advocate for government to declare: 

  • Araw ng mga Ama; 

  • Linggo ng Pamilya (DepEd).

  • Lobby for the creation of National Council on the Role of Filipino Men (NCRFM).

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Document best practices for replication / knowledge sharing.

  • ASKI: Regular monitoring of the programs for assessment.

  • Progress monitoring on interventions.

  • Establish monitoring and feedbacking system within the network

Forum

  • Regular annual forum on Men in Development (MIND).

  • Semi-annual forum on BEST practices & feedbacking.

  • Every 2 years gathering: best practices & client delegates.

  • Best practice sharing.

  • Regular conferences / forum for men.

  • Mobilize men to attend men’s forum.

  • Annual forum on Men at Work.

  • “Promise Keepers” / Global leadership summit type among network members

  • ASKI: another forum as avenue for –

         1. sharing of initiatives on Men @ Work; 

         2. invite other local & international org; 

         3. sharing of BEST practices / learnings from outside.

  • Share learnings with othe MAW members / APPEND.

  • Participate / involve in future MAW events.

  • Joint seminars & forums.

  • Tap other NGOs, churches who have programs impacting men. Learn from each other.

  • Sharing on best practices & not so best practices (within the network).   

Organizational Tasks

Moving forward towards the next Men at Work forum:

 

  1. Implementation of a program for men and learn from it.

  2. Or improvement of current programs.

  3. Share at next forum.

  4. Meantime...

             A. Formulation of concept paper per organization.

    B. Conduct of site visits at CCT

 

Commitments from participating organizations:

  1. ASKI to include Men at work in its 2015 business plans.

  2. TSKI will include Men at Work in its programs for 2015.

  3. CCT to share information on its Men’s project.

  4. Organizations to assign a person to liaise with WTRC.

  5. WTRC to develop a forum summary for circulation.
