RUTH CALLANTA

Even as a young woman Ruth Callanta was deeply concerned about helping the poor. In 1992, after years of implementing projects, educating and consulting on poverty alleviation, she founded the Center for Community Transformation (CCT), a non-government organization that initially ministered to micro-entrepreneurs through microfinance.

Ruth holds a masters in management from the Asian Institute of Management. Her work and passion for the spiritual, social and economic transformation of poor Filipino families has been recognized by the government and by civil society, academe and business circles. She is the recipient of the People Power Award from President Corazon Aquino and the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines (2005).

She and husband Ed have two sons and six grandchildren.

Ruth shares about her work with Men thru the Kaibigan and Sikhay sa Paggawa (SIPAG)
