APPEND
-
That this forum will be a continuous avenue to better understand the role of men in a workplace. In doing so we can appreciate more our contribution to our organization.
-
"Where are the Men." By Ms. Ruth Callanta of CCT.
ASKI
-
The challenges of engaging men in taking the lead role of community and family transformation considering identified gaps or key developmental challenges mainly education, economic opportunities, empowerment of men, spiritual transformation and generational change/role model.
-
Role of man is very powerful - worth of something not just to earn a living. Men must be trained for battle - to handle properly the shield and spear - to understand what to dofor his family and others (community). Most importantly, in doing all of these, men must have strong faith in God who will come along or join them in this battle.

Biblical role of men.
-
Identifying the gaps as follows:
-
Spiritual Formation (lack of spiritual and values formation among men)
-
Education and Skills (lack of competency/qualifications/preparedness)
-
Economic Changes (lack of job opportunities)
-
Generational Changes (lack of role model)
-
Men Empowerment (lack of integrity and the need to reaffirm/regain men's role in society)

-
It's the move to formalize/organize a network of Men @ Work to consistently and persistently find ways to include men in the MFI program with a common advocacy of helping men in poverty uplift their lives.

I believe the study presented by Bridget was significant into looking at men in poverty and their role in the community as well as in business. We have to start encouraging and bring to the fore men in our projects and programs for development so they can better lead their families and eventually i their livelihood and community.
-
For the opportunity to rethink and decide that the christian church and the TD organizations go back to the Biblical basis of the role of men in society and help men in marginalized communities reaffirm their Christian identity, personal vision and dignity towards bringing them to their rightful place in their communities and families.

The men's reality session, some real issues and negative perceptions of men; We need to be able to create meaningful work for men and at the same time introduce them to Christ and disciple them

The consensus among the participants to implement programs for 'Men at Work'.

Everything is quite important, especially the sharing on the experience of CCT, Bridget on studiesrelated to men and Dan Cura's very appropriate reflections on men. The most important thing I believe is that the organizations coming together to see the need to empower the men and actually do action plans which everyone is really enthusiastic to share in the next forum.
-
Men need other men to know their identity, to accomplish their mission and to love God.
-
In terms of discussion, the research conclusion which struck me the most was about men dealing with work-related stress due to insufficient work and low income. More importantly, it gives us more concern that men seem to deal with stress on their own. Thus, it was a significant decision for microfinance NGOs to come together and plan together and as individual organizations to address the needs of respective 'tatay' clients.
-
Redefining/redeeming the role of men based on God's design and plan. Finding practical ways to help men in restoring their dignity and fulfilling their roles in the family, community and church (ex. livelihood, education, etc.)
-
Different strategies of organization in implementing Men's Project.
-
One discussion that I think most important at the forum was the importance of Faith @ Work, the role of men in the society, work and at home, re affirming the Christian calling to lead their family.
-
Bridget's day 1 presentation pinpointing work-related stress of men due to insufficient work and low income; This stress is not shared with spouse.

-
Men's role in the development of families and communities was the most important discussion during the forum. The decision of all participating organizations to give focus on men and plan to address it is really a vital strategy to ensure sustainable impact on communities.
-
The roles of men in their own families/communities.

1. The Men At Work forum has launched the major inclusion of men in our programs or “Men awareness” for our group and I’m glad that the policy makers of our organization personally participated in the discussions. For now, let’s get the communication/ newsletter going. Thank you WTRC! God bless.

1. Thanks for the invitation and the flexibility allowing me to attend just 50% of the workshop. Appreciated the blessing to participate.

1. We hope to visit some of your initiatives on 'Men at Work' early next year so that we can jumpstart our own program.

1. Thank you for spearheading this activity. Though there may be some other studies which could have been done prior to this activity, this is a good start to clearly see the role of men in the society and restore his dignity. God bless.
2. I think the study of Bridget was the main resource we only had in the kit. The morning devotion materials were good readings that can be used by the participants in their respective offices but I think no copies were distributed. There were some presentations which were less helpful in painting the plight of men.
-
The strength of the forum is its ability to bring together key organizations and staff crucial in engaging men with varying roles in their household – as income earners, support to women workers and entrepreneurs and priests of their households. The attendance and sharing of the organizations alone can generate crucial discussions on men and their faith, their livelihood and their role in the communities they belong to.
-
But being true to theme of conference of Men at Work, for prospects of follow up workshops / conferences such as this, is it possible for WTRC to explore a workshop of “Men Only” as participants, praise and worship leaders and case presenters? In my experience of attending men retreats and conferences, there is a certain energy (and power) when men come together to worship, discuss and share. And I think that energy can be generated if intentionally, the male staff of WTRC are at the forefront of the secretariat, songs of worship that are handpicked are about men of the Bible or being sent to battle, icebreakers or games are competitive in nature, workshop questions are geared towards challenging the participants not only as staff but as men. Men tend to be less formal and more real in the company of men – ‘magkakilala man sila o hindi’. These little things can set the tone for the presentations about the plight of men that the men participants can relate to.
-
And that energy can be carried over or strengthened if all presenters and participants are men. Getting ‘tatay’ clients as the ones sharing their stories will also be a good sight to see. Research conclusions such as “men experiencing work-related stress” (from the study of Ms. Bridget) can easily be felt if it’s shared by a ‘tatay’ client/respondent.
-
Overall, I feel everything starts from taking that one big leap. Kudos to WTRC for this bold effort. May the Lord empower you more in making men realize their potentials as priests, providers and protectors of the homes and their communities.
3. Thank you WTRC team. May the Lord continue to bless and advance your ministries.
